Chhath Puja is not about muscle flexing or showing Bihari strength, the Bihari manoos settled in Mumbai are peace loving people , they come here to rediscover the magic of
their regional feast , invoking the Sun God..

The Juhu beach is totally a spectrum of color, puja stuff , sugarcane stalks , vermillion covered faces , piety and devotion.

I have been shooting the Chhath Puja for several years and have found this event not only pictorial, but of Indian warmth and carmaderie.

In Mumbai a cauldron of different colors , different moods different variations..but the message of unity in diversity comes out loud and clear.

The moment of Chhat Puja lasts much more deeply when the feast is over too..

I was introduced to this event by Mr Sanjay Nirupam, the erstwhile founder and promoter of the ethos of his native place..

Over the years this event has been highly politicized by various parties, but the message of peace and hope and harmony.

On 4 Nov this place will once again be crowded to revive the mood , inspite of the acrimony of recent events..we as Indians have to live as Indians.

Maharashtrians and Biharis at the core are Bhratvasis…Period.

This is the Chhath Puja as I have seen it as a Indian born Muslim..

Saif Shakir including my entire family were expecting Dr Glenn Losack in Mumbai for the wedding, we had tailored a sherwani and kurta chudidar with mogdis for him, but sadly he at the last minute could no make it due to urgent work priority in New York..

Dr Glenn Losack is now our extended family..
